Full Agenda
10.00 – Registration and opening comments
10.05 – HR & Employee Benefits: “Things can only get better (?)”
A fast paced, fun, and informative session to start our morning from guest speaker Steve Herbert. Steve will take a sideways look at the rash of workplace electoral promises already made by the new Labour government and consider which may prove the most genuinely practical and progressive for employers and employees over time. Topics covered may well include workplace wellbeing, pension changes, pay gaps, working carers, and absence management. A look at the latest economic data and forthcoming Budget statement will also be included.
Speaker: Steve Herbert, Employee Benefits Expert & Presentation Skills Coach
10.30 – Absence Management: “Putting the reasonable into adjustments”
With Wes Streeting, the new Health Secretary, describing the NHS as “broken”, it is clear that employers are ever more reliant on good occupational health and absence management procedures to keep their employees fit, healthy, and at work. Yet few organisations fully understand how a detailed understanding of reasonable adjustments can help. Topic expert Magnus Kauders will delve into the often overlooked detail of reasonable adjustments to help delegates better understand this important element of absence management.
Speaker: Magnus Kauders, Managing Director, Occupational Health Assessment Ltd
10.40 – Employment Law: “The final countdown”
With the new Government planning to introduce the Employment Rights Bill within one hundred days of entering Government, the countdown has begun as to how the Labour administration intends to deliver on its comprehensive plan to “Make Work Pay”. That extensive plan includes making protection from unfair dismissal a day one right, introducing a right to disconnect, and limiting the use of fire and rehire.
Employment Lawyer Matt Jenkin will look into these plans, consider when they might be implemented, and (importantly) what impact they might have on employers. A must attend session for all delegates.
Speaker: Matt Jenkin, Employment Partner, Herrington Carmichael LLP
