We’re certified as a carbon neutral business
Increasing amounts of Carbon Dioxide and other Greenhouse Gases (CO2e) are understood to be the leading cause of global warming. Buying electric cars or solar panels may not be practical for every person and the problem is just as big for businesses.
Occupational Health Assessment Limited is committed to being a sustainable business. We’re already one of the few medical businesses to be completely paper-free. We’re committed to recycling and we’ve ditched single-use plastics.
Even though we’re making efforts to reduce our impacts every day, we still produce CO2e. Everything we buy, eat and where we
travel adds to the amount of CO2e we produce.
What does offsetting do?
We offset our carbon footprint by contributing to projects that remove CO2e from the atmosphere. We contribute to planting
trees every month too. That balances out, or off-sets, our emissions and makes us carbon neutral.
How are we certified?
We partnered with Carbon Neutral Britain, a non-governmental body, to facilitate our efforts. They have verified the steps taken to certify our status as carbon neutral.
Following the internationally recognised ISO 14064 and GHG
Emissions Protocol Standard, the offsetting covers Scope 1 ‘Direct Emissions’
(such as those from vehicles), Scope 2 ‘Indirect Energy Emissions’ (from
electricity & gas usage) and Scope 3 ‘Indirect Other Emissions’ (from business
waste, travel, and inbound/outbound delivery of goods).
So far, Carbon Neutral Britain has offset over 500,000 tonnes of CO2e and has planted over 3 million trees. They fund projects in Britain and overseas to reduce the CO2e in the atmosphere. They focus on planting trees, because forests absorb CO², refract
the earths’ heat and have a positive impact on wildlife, ecology and biodiversity.
