University of Bristol student accepts Sue Britton Bursary
A student at the University of Bristol has accepted the Sue Britton Bursary. Sue Britton was a double-lung transplantee who passed away in 2020. She had worked in occupational health for many years.
To those who knew her, Sue embodied the most positive disposition and held humanity in the highest regard. The bursary award is made annually in Sue’s name by Occupational Health Assessment Ltd, to a medical student who has shown exceptional courage in the face of difficult circumstances.
The recipient, Lynda Imessaoudene, is a final year medical student at The University of Bristol. Lynda was chosen as the recipient by Sue’s family.
Lynda moved to the UK from Algeria in 2003. She learned to speak English, working as a childminder to pay for her language tuition. Having been successful in securing a place to study Medicine at the University of Bristol, Lynda has continued to work at weekends and be a parent to two children throughout the course.
Having faced many moments of hardship, doubt and difficulty, whilst preparing to dedicate her career to helping others, Lynda embodies the spirit that the award was created to reflect.
“We are proud to be able to make the award in Sue’s name and Lynda is an incredibly worthy recipient. We wish her every success in her future career as a doctor” said Magnus Kauders, Managing Director, Occupational Health Assessment Ltd.
